Fatality at SODISA - Kimberly-Clark de México’s Subsidiary

We are sad to report that José Manuel Castillo, a truck driver at Kimberly-Clark de México’s SODISA subsidiary, died as a result of a highway accident on April 3.
The accident occurred during a trip from México City to the Orizaba Mill when José Manuel’s truck rolled off the road on a steep embankment. Local authorities and the K-C de México team are working to determine the cause of the accident. In addition, the KCM and K-C Safety teams are reviewing all procedures and drivers’ working standards to ensure we are doing everything possible to prevent accidents in the future.
José Manuel was 40 years old. We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Socorro, and his two children, Mariela and José Manuel, as well as to his brothers and sister, some of whom have worked at K-C de México.
This is the second roadway fatality at SODISA in six months and the fourth fatality company-wide in less than a year.
Each employee at every K-C location worldwide should be clear: there is no production goal, no cost or time saving measure, and no competitive advantage or results target that is worth risking a human life or injury of any kind.
Safety is your responsibility. Do it for yourself, for your co-workers and for your family.
